LONDON, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Britain's Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 7 percent in the 12 months to March 2022, up from 6.2 percent in February, hitting a new 30-year high, official statistics showed Wednesday.
On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 1.1 percent in March 2022, compared with a rise of 0.3 percent in March 2021, according to the country's Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Amid the soaring prices, an already deepening cost-of-living crisis was aggravated.
Worse yet, an increased energy price cap was expected to push inflation even higher.
