China's rural revitalization strategy, launched at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2017, aims to achieve basic modernization of agriculture and rural areas by 2035. Since the launch of its reform and opening-up policy over 40 years ago, China has lifted 770 million rural residents out of poverty, accounting for more than 70 percent of the global total based on the World Bank's international poverty line.
