NEW YORK, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Friday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.28 percent to 104.042 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.0825 U.S. dollars from 1.0791 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2940 U.S. dollars from 1.2951 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 149.96 Japanese yen, lower than 151.11 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8819 Swiss francs from 0.8824 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.4316 Canadian dollars from 1.4320 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar traded nearly flat at 9.9986 Swedish kronor. ■
