BEIRUT, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- A Lebanese soldier was killed and another wounded on Thursday during a rescue mission with the Lebanese Red Cross in the southern village of Taybeh, according to a statement issued by the Lebanese army.
A source from the Lebanese Red Cross told Xinhua that four volunteers were also injured during the mission to evacuate members of the health authority injured in an Israeli raid on the Lebanese border.
Since Sept. 23, the Israeli army has been conducting intensive airstrikes on Lebanon in a dangerous escalation with Hezbollah.
Since Oct. 8, 2023, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging fire across the Lebanese-Israeli border amid fears of a broader conflict as the war between Hamas and Israel continues in the Gaza Strip. ■
