NEW DELHI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Monday tabled the new annual Economic Survey report in the lower house of the Indian parliament, locally known as Lok Sabha.

The report projects the South Asian country's gross domestic product (GDP) to grow 6.5-7 percent in fiscal year 2024-25 starting April.

The report points out that domestic growth drivers supported economic growth in the previous fiscal year despite global economic uncertainties.

"During the decade ending FY20, India grew at an average annual rate of 6.6 percent, more or less reflecting the long-run growth prospects of the economy," the report said.

The report further mentions that the global trade outlook for 2024 remains positive, with merchandise trade expected to pick up after registering a contraction in volumes in 2023.
