BAGHDAD, April 8 (Xinhua) -- A Shiite militia in Iraq on Monday claimed responsibility for three drone attacks targeting three military bases in Israel.
The group, known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, stated in an online statement that its fighters conducted the drone strike at dawn on Monday on a base north of Lake Tiberias in Israel. It provided no details regarding casualties.
Another two online statements also issued Monday by the group said that its fighters conducted two drone attacks on two bases in northern Israel on Sunday morning without further details on casualties.
The group said the attacks were carried out "in solidarity with the people of Gaza" and underscored commitment to continue targeting "enemy strongholds," according to the statements.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict on Oct. 7, 2023, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has conducted numerous attacks on Israel and U.S. bases in the region. ■
