VIENTIANE, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Laos and Thailand launched a cross-border QR payment linkage to facilitate economic activities between the two countries and bolster trade, investment, and tourism.
The launching ceremony was held in northern Laos' Luang Prabang province on Wednesday, according to a Thursday report by Laos' central bank, the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL).
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Governor of BOL Bounleua Sinxayvoravong said the collaboration between Laos and Thailand in the realm of financial services is a reflection of the shared vision for regional integration, economic development, and prosperity.
"We reaffirm our commitment to strengthening ties and fostering mutual growth as well as regional growth," said Bounleua.
The introduction of cross-border QR payment represents a leap forward in the realm of financial technology, promising greater convenience, efficiency, and security in cross-border transactions. ■
