AMMAN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Jordanian Minister of Government Communications Muhannad Mubaidin said Sunday that the attack targeting U.S. forces near the Syrian border did not occur inside Jordan.
Mubaidin told the state-run Al Mamlaka TV that the attack targeted the al-Tanf base in southeastern Syria.
The United States said Sunday that three U.S. troops were killed and dozens wounded during a drone strike on U.S. forces stationed in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border. U.S. President Joe Biden pinned the blame for the deadly attack on Iran-backed militant groups, while also saying that the U.S. was still gathering the facts, Russia's Sputnik news agency reported.
The al-Tanf base is located in the Syrian desert near the border with Jordan. ■
