BAKU, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- A fire on Tuesday killed four newborns receiving treatment in a neonatal intensive care unit of the Republican Perinatal Center in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.
A joint statement by the country's Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Emergency Situations said another three individuals, who suffered from smoke inhalation, have been hospitalized, but in stable conditions.
According to Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan's prosecutor general, the fire is believed to have been caused by electrical fault.
An investigation has been launched to find out the facts, the official said. ■
