AMMAN, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said on Monday there will be no solution to the Palestinian issue at Jordan's expense.

The king made his remarks at a meeting in Amman with retired army and security chiefs, according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court.

He called for ignoring the voices that try to distance the kingdom from "serving and defending its brothers and sisters," reiterating Jordan's continued support for the Palestinian people's steadfastness on their land.

He underlined the importance of stepping up and unifying Arab efforts to push for a ceasefire in Gaza and a political horizon to resolve the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution and the fulfillment of the Palestinians' legitimate rights.

The king reiterated Jordan's rejection of any attempt to separate the West Bank and Gaza, which both must be part of the Palestinian state.

Jordan will continue to provide aid to the Palestinians, including medical services through two military hospitals in Gaza and another one in Nablus, in addition to two medical stations in Ramallah and Jenin, he added.

On the same day, schools, shops and various establishments in Jordan held a strike in different parts of the country in line with calls for a global strike in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.

The strike aims to call on the government to take a stance that stops the ongoing deadly conflict in the war-torn enclave, Jordan's state-run Al Mamlaka TV reported.
