NEW DELHI, Nov. 22 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday raised concerns over deepfake videos and described them as one of the biggest threats facing the system.
He called for a proper look into the growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and urged the Group of 20 (G20) nations to work together on this issue while addressing a virtual G20 summit held prior to the conclusion of India's G20 presidency.
Deepfake is a video of a person made by using AI tools to digitally alter faces and bodies so that they appear to be someone else. It is typically done maliciously or to spread false information.
Recently, deepfake videos of Indian film actresses surfaced on social media, triggering an outrage. ■
