VIENTIANE, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Lao police and Vietnamese border guards vowed to work more closely to curb criminal activities along Laos-Vietnam border.
According to the Lao Security News on Thursday, an agreement on cooperation in the work was signed recently in the Lao capital Vientiane.
Under the agreement, the two sides will lead their specialized departments in fulfilling the agreement as well as hosting meetings to discuss progress and lessons.
The two law-and-order forces will pay special attention to raising awareness of the law around drug abuse and trade and the harmful effects of drugs, with a focus on the trade in border areas.
They will step up coordination in sharing information about the movements of drug targets and others involved in criminal activities, and work to gather more information about suspects involved in drug crimes.
The two forces will use specialized measures to strengthen coordination between Lao police officers and Vietnamese border guards in exchanging information about crimes, specifying goals and making greater progress in tackling crimes along their shared border by bringing criminals to justice. ■
