ANKARA, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- More than 150 "terrorists" were killed in the comprehensive cross-border operations in the north of Iraq and Syria since Oct. 1, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler said Monday.

The Turkish forces carried out comprehensive air operations, using fire support vehicles, against "terrorist" targets in the north of Iraq on Oct. 1 and 3-4, and in the north of Syria on Oct. 5-6 and 8, Guler said at the National Defense University's new-year opening ceremony.

"Many targets, as well as sources of income and facilities used by the terrorist organization, were destroyed with full accuracy," he added.

The Turkish military has carried out several airstrikes against the targets of the Syrian Kurdish Protection Units (YPG) in northern Syria and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq since a suicidal bomb attack in the capital earlier this month.

The PKK claimed responsibility for the attack in front of the Turkish Interior Ministry, in which one assailant blew himself up and another was killed in a shootout with police. Two police officers were injured in the attack.

Türkiye sees the YPG group as the Syrian branch of the PKK. The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for more than three decades.
