GAZA, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army warplanes completely destroyed a residential tower in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run Interior Ministry.
Iyad al-Bozzom, the ministry's spokesperson, said in a press statement that "the Israeli war plans completely destroy a residential tower that included about 100 apartments and displaced its residents."
According to Palestinian security sources, Israeli drones were dispatched to issue a warning, and once the building had been evacuated, warplanes completely destroyed it.
Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have killed at least 198 people and injured 1,610, the Palestinian Health Ministry in the Palestinian enclave said on Saturday. The airstrikes were carried out in response to an earlier rocket attack by Hamas.
At least 100 Israelis were killed during a Hamas rocket and infiltrating attack since Saturday morning, according to the Israeli Health Ministry. ■
