BEIJING, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Water levels in some parts of the middle and lower streams of the country's Hanjiang River Basin are forecast to exceed their warning marks from Monday, according to the Ministry of Water Resources.

Heavy rains have lashed the river basin since Sept. 22, and the first flood of the year occured in the river basin last Friday, the ministry said.

The water inflow at Danjiangkou Reservoir in central China's Hubei Province was recorded at 11,800 cubic meters per second on Monday afternoon, and the water outflow was 8,170 cubic meters per second.

From Monday to Thursday, heavy rains are expected to hit the Hanjiang River Basin, the ministry said, and the water inflow at Danjiangkou Reservoir is expected to peak at 15,000 cubic meters per second on Friday.

The ministry has activated a Level-IV emergency response to flooding for Hanjiang River, and dispatched work teams to Hubei and Shaanxi to provide instruction on flood prevention.
