China's Shenzhen Solar Run Energy Co. Limited and Nairobi-based Mama Layla Solar Lights in Kenya partnered in September 2022 to roll out solar-powered tablets, or "solar media" that are designed to empower marginalized communities.
A total of more than 200 families benefited from the previous two phases of the project in parts of Kenya's remote areas that lack electricity provision, with the first phase providing 25 units of equipment for local villagers and the second phase 81 units. The third phase will be implemented in November 2023 and is expected to provide 200 pieces of equipment to more areas.
