At the beginning of the new year, construction of major projects in Haikou, the capital of south China's Hainan Province, is forging ahead at full throttle with COVID-19 prevention and control measures in place.
At the construction site of Jiangdong New District, workers have started building the above-ground main body of a China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) project.
At Haikou Jiangdong New Area, projects are making headway. The Jiangdong Development Building Project, with a total investment of about 1.3 billion yuan (about 188 million U.S. dollars), has a total construction area of about 89,400 square meters.
China aims to build the whole of Hainan Island into a globally influential and high-level free trade port by the middle of the century.
