JAKARTA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Communication ministers of Indonesia and Malaysia met here on Friday discussing strengthening bilateral cooperation in cybersecurity and telecommunication.
During the meeting, Indonesia's minister for communication and information technology Johnny Gerard Plate and his Malaysian counterpart Tan Sri Annuar Musa discussed various issues concerning digitalization and cybersecurity in their countries, and in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
The two sides also agreed to develop a closer cooperation in global forums, such as the International Telecommunication Union, a specialized agency of the United Nations for dealing with matters related to information and communication technologies.
"We both have the same understanding in maintaining the digital space in Indonesia, Malaysia, as well as ASEAN, to make it clean and useful for communities," Plate said during a joint press conference after the meeting.
The Friday meeting was the third one between the two ministers in six months. ■
