TEHRAN, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran plans to build three more Khayyam satellites, the Iranian government spokesman Ali Bahadori Jahromi said on Thursday.
The construction of three more versions of the Khayyam satellite is on the government's agenda, Jahromi said on his Twitter account, adding that the stabilization of the recently-launched Khayyam satellite has been done successfully.
On Tuesday, Iran's Khayyam satellite was successfully launched into space from the Baikonur space station in Kazakhstan by Russia's Soyuz satellite carrier rocket.
The satellite will monitor the country's agricultural productivity, mining and mineral discoveries, and deal with deforestation and natural or environmental hazards, according to a report published by the country's space agency. ■
