The Chinese economy has demonstrated remarkable flexibility in dealing with several international challenges the world has faced in recent years, an Egyptian expert has said.
China has presented a special model for combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with high rates of recovery and rapid vaccine production, said Heba Gamal, professor of political science at the Cairo-based Institute of National Planning.
While many developed countries ceased work and production during the height of COVID-19, China managed to maintain its production cycle and achieved exceptional growth rates during that critical period, said Gamal, also a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.
China's economy has shown a stabilizing trend despite downward pressures in the second quarter brought by the complex global environment and domestic COVID-19 resurgences.
China's gross domestic product expanded 2.5 percent year on year in the first half of 2022, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed Friday.
The most recent statistics have demonstrated China's extraordinary ability to recover in difficult times, said the expert, adding that she expected the Chinese economy to maintain its positive growth rates.
According to Gamal, the resilience of the Chinese economy is exemplified by the country's success in managing the supply chain problem thanks to its constant communication with different countries on the heels of escalating crises.
She added that China has built a very strong economy that can withstand the effects of such global financial problems as stagnation, inflation, and recession.
The expert also spoke highly of China's ongoing efforts to improve its investment environment, push its domestic reforms forward, and tap the potential of its market.
China is an attractive market for investors from Arab and Gulf countries, she said.
