JAKARTA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The first catenary cantilever was installed Friday in the section of Tegal Luar Station of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), marking the start of catenary construction in the important railway project in Indonesia.
A statement released by KCIC, a joint venture consortium between Chinese and Indonesian state-owned firms that runs the 142.3-km railway, said the integration of telecommunications, signaling, power and electrification of Jakarta-Bandung HSR is technically designed with "China Standard" and will be furnished with equipment manufactured in China.
KCIC said the China-produced Overhead Contact System (OCS) cantilever is one of the significant elements in the OCS system that directly supplies power to high-speed trains.
It said the HSR with the design concept of China High-Speed Railway is planned to use 7,605 sets of cantilever, all of which are "Easy-Standardized".
With a design speed of 350 km per hour, the high-speed railway built with Chinese technology will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, the capital of West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes. ■
