CAIRO, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Norway won the gold medal of the 50m rifle 3-position mixed team after overcoming Denmark at the 2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships here on Monday.
The Norwegian pair, Jenny Stene and Simon Claussen, led all through the 13 rounds of the gold medal match, defeating Danish Stephanie Grundsoee and Steffen Olsen 17-9.
Stene, 24, said that she felt "relieved and happy" to achieve such a precious medal for her country in the championships that also offer spots for individual events at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
"We had one gold before this match. So, we have two gold medals so far and we aspire for more, hopefully in later competitions," the Norwegian told Xinhua.
Norway has won so far two gold, two silver and two bronze medals at the championships, placing seventh on the medal tally led by China.
The bronze medal was won by German Anna Janssen and David Koenders after a massive 16-0 triumph over Swiss Franziska Stark and Jan Lochbihler.
The 2022 ISSF World Championships for Rifle and Pistol is taking place at the newly built Egypt International Olympic City complex in the Egyptian capital of Cairo. ■
