KABUL, March 20 (Xinhua) -- A total of 211 Afghan nationals who were arrested in Iran have been handed over to the Afghan side and returned home, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Thursday.
The former detainees would serve the remaining term of sentences in their provinces, the report said.
Iran would also hand over 484 Afghan prisoners soon, Mohammad Yusuf Mustari, managing director of prisons in Afghanistan, was quoted as saying.
Iran handed over 149 Afghan detainees a couple of days ago.
More than 7 million Afghans, most of them refugees, have stayed in neighboring Iran and Pakistan for years. ■
