ISLAMABAD, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Remittances sent by overseas Pakistani workers increased by 47.6 percent in July on a year-on-year basis, the State Bank of Pakistan said on Friday.
The workers' remittances recorded an inflow of 3.0 billion U.S. dollars in July 2024, the central bank said.
Last month, the remittances mainly came from Saudi Arabia with 761.1 million dollars, the United Arab Emirates with 611.1 million dollars, Britain with 443.5 million dollars, and the United States with 300.1 million dollars, according to the bank.
Workers' remittances play an important role in Pakistan's economy as they are one of the major sources of foreign exchange. ■
