ZUNYI, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Zunyi in southwest China's Guizhou Province has a resonant title: the "city of historic turning point."

In January 1935, an enlarged meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee was held in Zunyi during the Long March. The Zunyi Meeting is regarded as a crucial turning point of the Long March, leading to the ultimate success of the Chinese revolution. Since then, Zunyi has become a sacred place for generations of CPC members, and the footprints of the Red Army are forever imprinted on the city's culture and spirits.

Rooted in its revolutionary past, the city is now embarking on a new chapter of development while retaining its historical significance. When the Red Army passed through, its population stood at just over 30,000. By 2025, the permanent population of its central urban area exceeded 1.6 million, with an urbanization rate of 61 percent.

Zunyi also calls for developing new quality productive forces in light of local conditions and accelerating the building of a modern industrial system.

The year 2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Long March. Take a drone tour above China's "city of historic turning point."
