Gary Dvorchak's childhood bedroom looked much like any other teenager's room in Iowa, with Star Wars and Star Trek posters on the walls and model spacecraft on display. In 1985, it became the room where a young Chinese county official named Xi Jinping stayed during his first visit to the United States.
In this short documentary, Xinhua's Miao Xiaojuan sits down with Gary to revisit the Dvorchaks' lasting bond with China's first family, and explore what their story reveals about the power of people-to-people ties between the world's two largest economies.
