
China, U.S. to hold economic, trade consultations in ROK on May 12-13
As agreed by both China and the United States, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will lead a delegation to the Republic of Korea (ROK) to hold economic and trade consultations with the United States from May 12 to 13, the Ministry of Commerce announced on Sunday.
The two sides will be guided by the important consensus reached between the two heads of state at their meeting in Busan and during previous calls, and will hold consultations on economic and trade issues of mutual concern, according to the ministry.
Spain evacuates hantavirus-hit cruise ship off Tenerife
Spanish authorities launched an operation on Sunday to evacuate and transfer all passengers and part of the crew aboard the hantavirus-hit cruise ship MV Hondius.
Earlier, the vessel anchored off the Port of Granadilla on the Spanish island of Tenerife.
Personnel from Spain's External Health Service, or Sanidad Exterior, later boarded the vessel to carry out epidemiological investigations and health assessments.
Later in the morning, the first group of passengers began disembarking and were transferred ashore as part of the evacuation operation.
Iran hands over U.S. proposal's response to Pakistan
Iran's response to the latest U.S. proposed text for ending the war was sent on Sunday to the Pakistani mediator, the official news agency IRNA reported.
According to the proposed plan, at this stage, negotiations will focus on ending the war in the region, the IRNA report said.

Iran's latest draft proposal for talks with the United States calls for an immediate cessation of conflict on all fronts, a guarantee for no more "aggression" against Iran, and the lifting of U.S. sanctions and naval blockade, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported Sunday.
"The proposal highlights the need to immediately end the war, provide guarantees for the non-repetition of the aggression against Iran, and certain other issues within a political agreement," Tasnim cited an informed source as saying.
It also demands a 30-day window for rescinding U.S. sanctions on Iranian oil sales, and the release of Iran's frozen assets following the preliminary agreement, it reported.
Trump says Iran's response to U.S. plan "totally unacceptable"
Iran's latest response to a U.S. plan is "totally unacceptable," U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday.
"I have just read the response from Iran's so-called 'Representatives.' I don't like it -- TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social, without elaborating.

Israel says it killed over 30 militants in Lebanon in past week
Israel's military said on Sunday that it killed more than 30 militants in Lebanon over the past week.
In a statement, the military said Israeli forces struck about 70 Hezbollah sites in Lebanon.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli Air Force intercepted several rockets launched toward soldiers in southern Lebanon, the military said.
It added that it "will continue to operate against threats directed at Israeli civilians and soldiers."
3 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza Strip
Three Palestinians were killed Sunday in two separate Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, including two members of the Hamas-run interior authorities, according to Palestinian sources.
Eyewitnesses said an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle northwest of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. Civil Defense sources told Xinhua that two bodies were recovered and eight wounded were taken to hospital.
Hamas-run interior authorities in Gaza said in a press statement that the two killed in the strike were Wissam Abdel-Hadi, head of the Criminal Investigation Department in Khan Younis, and Sergeant Fadi Heikal.■
