SHANGHAI, April 14 (Xinhua) -- A total of 100 robots have started their "new jobs" as delivery men and garbage collectors at the Lingang makeshift hospital for COVID-19 patients in Shanghai. They help doctors and nurses deliver meals and medicines to about 4,000 beds and collect garbage throughout the hospital.
The deployment of robots can avoid close contact between the medical workers and the patients, and reduce the workload of medical workers. The delivery robot has multiple cabinets and can hold up to 20 boxes of meals at once. One robot can deliver as many as 120 boxes of meals per hour.
So far, the first batch of 2,000 patients has been discharged from Lingang makeshift hospital after recovery from COVID-19.
