ALMATY, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan plans to commission approximately 200 new industrial enterprises with a total investment of around 1.7 trillion tenge (3.76 billion U.S. dollars) by the end of 2026, the Kazinform news agency reported Wednesday, citing First Deputy Prime Minister Nurlybek Nalibayev.

The country's manufacturing sector grew by 8.6 percent in the first nine months of the year, with output reaching nearly 24.2 trillion tenge, Nalibayev said at a government briefing.

Meanwhile, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov announced plans to modernize the country's three existing oil refineries, raising their combined processing capacity from 18 million tonnes to 27.7 million tonnes and upgrading fuel quality to the K5 standard, Kazinform reported.

Akkenzhenov said Kazakhstan is maintaining its oil production target of 96 million tonnes for 2026, while aiming to increase output to around 99 million tonnes in 2027.

In the first nine months of 2026, Kazakhstan's oil production fell 8.3 percent year on year to 69.4 million tonnes. (1 Kazakhstani tenge = 0.002206 U.S. dollars)  ■
