From an ancient vision to modern engineering, China is using precisely controlled water and sediment regulation to tackle sediment buildup in its mother river, the Yellow River. Through 33 coordinated reservoir operations, the average riverbed elevation of the main channel in the lower reaches has been reduced by 3.1 meters, helping improve the river's long-term health and flood prevention.■
