Japanese telecom operator KDDI has acknowledged that its subsidiary Mobicom could be responsible for the large-scale wildfire that scorched Mongolia's protected nature reserve earlier this month.

The blaze destroyed over 528,700 hectares of land -- an area which, according to media, was more than TWICE the size of Tokyo. The reserve is one of eastern Mongolia's best-preserved natural ecosystems, providing habitat for a wide range of wildlife, including endangered and rare species.

Local media alleged that the Japanese executives who sparked the fire had entered the restricted area for ILLEGAL FISHING.
