France test-fires new nuclear-capable missile without warhead carried
France on Tuesday test-fired a strategic ballistic missile without a nuclear warhead from a submarine off the coast of Finistere in western France, French media reported.
The missile was launched from the nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine Le Vigilant and landed in the North Atlantic Ocean, several hundred kilometers from any coast, French news channel BFM TV reported, citing French Ministry of Armed Forces.
Yemen's Houthis claim missile strike on Saudi Arabia's Abha airport
Yemen's Houthi group said Tuesday it had launched a fresh ballistic missile strike on Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia's Asir region, claiming the attack disrupted air traffic.
In a statement on social media platform X, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea claimed the missile "precisely and directly" hit the airport.
Strikes hit Yemen's Sanaa, other Houthi-held areas: Houthi media
A new wave of airstrikes hit Yemen's Houthi-held capital Sanaa and several northern provinces late Tuesday, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported, as residents told Xinhua that several loud explosions rocked the capital.
The strikes targeted areas in Sanaa as well as the provinces of Amran, Saada and Al-Jawf, the television channel said, describing the attacks as "Saudi aggression."
Kenya confirms first Ebola case as patient dies
Kenya on Tuesday confirmed its first imported case of Bundibugyo Ebola virus disease, one day after a man died in a Nairobi hospital, the country's health authorities said.
The patient was a Kenyan citizen who had lived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for the past seven years, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said in a statement.
He fell ill about a month ago and was treated at several hospitals while still in the DRC. He traveled by road from the DRC to Kampala, Uganda, then boarded Jambojet flight 8523 and arrived in Nairobi on Oct. 3.■
