During his state visit to China in May, U.S. President Donald Trump said that he is willing to maintain sincere and in-depth communication with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and looks forward to hosting Xi in Washington, D.C.
Now, at Trump's invitation, Xi is set to head to Washington for a state visit. He will be in the United States on Sept. 23-25.
The exchange of visits between the two heads of state within six months is of historic and milestone significance, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said.
