BRICS leaders adopt joint declaration at summit in New Delhi
Leaders of BRICS countries at the 18th BRICS Summit adopted a joint declaration in New Delhi, the capital of India, on Saturday, reiterating their commitment to inclusive global governance and strengthening multilateralism, calling for international and regional peace and security, and underscoring sustainable and inclusive global economic growth as well as strengthening cultural and people-to-people cooperation.
The New Delhi Declaration reiterated the leaders' commitment to reforming and improving global governance by promoting a more just, equitable, agile, effective, representative, and accountable international and multilateral system in the spirit of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.
Iran, Oman agree on details of Hormuz Strait's new entry, exit routes
Iran and Oman have agreed on the details of new entry and exit routes for the Strait of Hormuz and will brief Gulf countries on the outcome of their consultations at a regional meeting in Muscat on Monday, Iranian officials said on Saturday.
Citing a source close to Iran's negotiating team, the semi-official Tasnim news agency said that the understanding was reached after "intensive technical and diplomatic talks between Iran and Oman, which culminated in a final agreement in late August."
Houthis say Saudi warplanes launch 129 strikes across Yemen in 48 hours
Yemen's Houthi group said Saturday that Saudi warplanes had carried out 129 airstrikes across seven Yemeni provinces over the past 48 hours, amid a sharp escalation following the group's rapid military advance along the Red Sea coast.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said in a statement on social media platform X that the strikes hit the southwestern province of Taiz, the oil-rich northeastern province of Marib, the Red Sea province of Hodeidah, and the northern provinces of Al-Jawf, Saada, Amran and Hajjah.
121 workers hospitalized with suspected food poisoning in central Vietnam
A total of 121 workers in Vietnam's central city of Hue had been hospitalized with suspected food poisoning as of 9 a.m. Saturday, local media Vietnamnet reported, citing the local health authority.
The incident occurred at Scavi Hue Company, a textile and garment manufacturer wholly owned by a French group, with many of the workers reportedly falling ill at around 10 a.m. Friday and being taken to medical facilities for emergency treatment.
16 killed in Chile's nursing home fire
At least 16 people were killed after a fire broke out on Friday evening at a nursing home in southern Chile, local media reported on Saturday.
"Around 10:30 p.m. (0130 GMT Sept. 12), a fire broke out, and only 10 people living in the nursing home were evacuated, and we must lament the deaths of 16 people," a police officer said.■
