For Eric Wang, chief marketing officer of Chinese charging-technology firm CUKTECH and head of its design center, good product design should combine performance with visual restraint. The company's devices, he said in a recent interview with Xinhua, should look "cool" while conveying a sense of quality and performance, yet should not become "the loudest voice in the environment."

BERLIN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- As technological change reshapes the global consumer-electronics landscape, competition is increasingly moving beyond raw specifications toward more sophisticated engineering, more intuitive interaction and new applications of existing technologies. At IFA Berlin 2026, this evolution is visible in the growing emphasis on how technological advances can translate into better products and new possibilities for everyday use.

Wang also believes a strong design language should carry across generations of products. His aim is to create devices that remain relevant over time, with each iteration retaining enough common details to make the brand immediately recognizable. Such continuity, he said, comes from deliberate refinement rather than change for its own sake.

Underlying this philosophy is CUKTECH's long-term focus on R&D in charging and portable power. Wang sees sustained investment in engineering as essential to improving efficiency, power density and the overall user experience. As Chinese technology companies build on strong engineering and manufacturing capabilities, he believes that building a global brand also requires trust built over time.

This technological base is also allowing CUKTECH to explore new areas. At IFA, the company unveiled a prototype lower-limb exoskeleton powered by its portable power banks, applying its accumulated expertise in battery systems and power management to wearable robotics.

Wang said the use of portable, swappable power banks gives the prototype greater flexibility across different scenarios and showcases how the company's existing expertise can provide a competitive edge. The company is still exploring where the concept may lead, with the aim of seeing whether technologies built up over years in power management can translate into real value in a new field.

As technology matures, Wang also sees room for products to respond to needs beyond pure functionality. Some CUKTECH products combine visible charging information with interactive elements designed to add what he calls "sentimental value," reflecting his view that advanced technology can also have warmth and personality.

CUKTECH products are now sold in more than 40 countries and regions, and the company is making its first appearance at IFA this year as it seeks to expand further in Europe. Wang described Germany as an important market, citing strong demand for premium charging products and consumers' close attention to engineering and product performance.

Looking ahead, Wang believes that CUKTECH will continue to build on its core technologies while exploring where those capabilities can be applied next. Whether in established charging products or emerging areas such as wearable robotics, sustained R&D, enduring design and trust built over time, in his view, form part of the same long-term process of building a global technology brand.
