BEIJING, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.30 percent to 3,930.12 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.79 percent lower at 13,516.97 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices stood at around 2.03 trillion yuan (about 300 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.76 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Pork, digital currency, as well as film and short drama production stocks were among the biggest winners, while semiconductor chips, computing hardware, and precious metals posted losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.78 percent to close at 3,286.55 points Friday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 2.16 percent lower at 1,865.37 points.
