Eight of the world's largest oil companies, most of them based in Western countries, reported combined profits of nearly $93 billion in the three months through June, as the U.S.-Israel attacks on Iran drove global energy prices sharply higher, according to an analysis by The Guardian.

The companies -- BP, Shell, Equinor, TotalEnergies, Eni, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco -- earned a combined profit of more than $700,000 a minute during the quarter, the analysis found.
