SHANGHAI, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday urged China and Cambodia to carry forward the ironclad friendship forged by the older generations of leaders of the two countries.
Xi made the remarks in his meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, who is here to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai and on his working visit to China.
Xi said the two sides should enrich the "Diamond Hexagon" cooperation framework, and advance the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era to a higher level.
He stressed that the two sides should accelerate the development of the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor, upgrade traditional sectors such as electricity and agriculture, and foster emerging industries including artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
The two sides should work together to crack down on cross-border crimes such as counterfeiting, smuggling, online gambling and telecom fraud, Xi said.
Xi said consolidating the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand and gradually building mutual trust serve the fundamental and long-term interests of both countries. He added that China supports Cambodia and Thailand in finding a solution through dialogue and consultation, and stands ready to continue playing a constructive role in this regard. ■
