108-year-old Duan Guixiu is one of the last surviving widows of Red Army martyrs in Yudu County, China's Jiangxi Province.
For decades, she held onto a promise made by her husband shortly after their marriage -- that he would one day return to her.
Yet, though the return she longed for never came, she lived to see the world that the martyrs had fought so hard to create -- a life well-provided for, a life that carried the weight of their sacrifices.
