BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines from the past week:

1. China's 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, 9th Special Olympics close

China's 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games concluded on December 14 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

State Councilor Shen Yiqin declared the Games closed.

It marked the first time that the two Games have been co-hosted by the three regions of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It was also the second time that both Games took place in the same city and year as the National Games.

Held from December 8 to 15, the Games featured 46 sports, with a total of 7,824 athletes from 34 delegations registered. 15 world records and 156 national records were broken during the Games.


2. China's Wang retains women's singles title at WTT Finals

China's Wang Manyu beat compatriot Kuai Man 4-2 to retain her women's singles title at the World Table Tennis Finals on December 14.

In a clash between the world's top-ranked women's doubles pairing, Wang won the first game 11-7, before Kuai came back from 8-4 down to prevail 11-8 in the second.

Wang regained a foothold afterwards, triumphing 11-8, 11-8 to move 3-1 ahead. Despite Kuai winning the fifth game 11-9, Wang won the sixth 12-10 to secure her second straight singles title in the season-ending WTT tournament.


3. CHINADA conducts over 23,000 doping tests in 2024: annual report

China conducted 23,604 doping tests in 2024 and identified 34 anti-doping rule violations, the Chinese Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) said in its annual report released on December 18.

CHINADA collected 27,384 samples throughout the year, the report showed, with out-of-competition testing accounting for more than 19,000 cases. Among the violations, 30 cases involved adverse analytical findings, while four cases were uncovered through intelligence and investigations.

CHINADA also reported progress in education and prevention efforts. In 2024, it carried out 634 education access programs, 1,186 outreach activities, and 2,714 anti-doping lectures nationwide. It received 116 applications for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), of which 39 were approved.


4. Chen Yuxi named World Aquatics 2025 Female Diver of the Year

World Aquatics on December 17 named China's Olympic champion Chen Yuxi as its 2025 Female Diving Athlete of the Year, while Australia's Cassiel Rousseau was honored as the Male Diving Athlete of the Year.

Chen, 20, extended China's dominance in the women's 10-meter platform, completing an unbeaten 2025 Diving World Cup circuit with seven wins, including three gold medals at the Super Final in Beijing.

She carried that form into the World Aquatics Championships Singapore 2025, where she won gold in the women's 10-meter platform, women's synchronized 10-meter platform and mixed team event. The sweep made her the first diver to win four world titles in the women's 10-meter platform.


5. China dominates aerials events at home FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup

China swept the women's podium and clinched gold and silver in the men's event at the FIS Freestyle Ski Aerials World Cup held at Genting Secret Garden Resort on December 20.

Kong Fanyu claimed the women's title with 102.17 points, while her teammates Chen Meiting and Xu Mengtao finished second and third with 97.45 and 97.02 points, respectively.

In the men's competition, China's Li Tianma topped the standings with 128.01 points, followed by teammate Qi Guangpu on 120.80. Switzerland's Noe Roth took bronze with 110.67 points.
