BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.4 percent to 3,367.46 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.07 percent lower at 10,179.60 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at approximately 1.09 trillion yuan (about 151.52 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.15 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the controllable nuclear fusion and auto parts led the gains, while those in the logistics and beauty care sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.19 percent to close at 2,039.45 points. ■
