GAZA, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Some Palestinians seeking refuge in Rafah, the southernmost city in Gaza, began to leave the city after Israel on Monday urged civilians to evacuate from parts of Rafah ahead of a planned ground assault.
Many of these Palestinians had already been displaced several times since the onset of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on Oct. 7, 2023, and expressed concerns about finding safe havens amidst Israel's ongoing bombardment.
The Israeli army will would proceed with its operation in Rafah "as planned," after the talks on the Israel-Hamas truce held in Egypt's Cairo collapsed on Thursday, an Israeli official said.
