CANBERRA, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The "2024 Australian Chinese New Year Gala," organized by local Chinese communities in South Australia, was held recently in Adelaide, the state capital.
Official of the Chinese Consulate-General in Adelaide told Xinhua on Thursday that the event has been the largest Chinese New Year celebration ever held in South Australia.
Peter Malinauskas, premier of South Australia, spoke highly of the importance of cooperative relationship between South Australia and China, as well as contribution of overseas Chinese to socio-economic and multicultural development of South Australia.
Li Dong, consul general of the Chinese Consulate-General in Adelaide, expressed his willingness to promote bilateral exchanges in the economy, trade and culture.
The event featured wonderful programs presented by artists from China and Australia, especially those from local communities.■
