BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines over the past week:

1. China's rifle, pistol shooters dominate 2022 World Championships

Chinese rifle and pistol shooters are ready to take home dozens of medals as the 2022 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships concluded on Thursday.

China bagged a total of 58 medals - 27 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze - to take an unmatchable lead on the tally, followed by India with 12 golds and 34 in total, in the big event that gathered over 1,000 shooters from more than 80 countries and regions.

The shooting powerhouse also earned all eight possible Olympic quota spots as the ISSF competitions offer 32 spots, evenly split to eight Olympic individual events, as part of the qualification process for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.


2. Li Bingjie breaks women's 400m freestyle short course world record

Olympic champion Li Bingjie of China broke the women's 400m freestyle short course world record in a time of three minutes and 51.30 seconds on Thursday.

Li made the feat at the Chinese National Qualification Meet for the FINA 2022 World Championships (25M) to be held from December 13-18 in Melbourne, Australia.

Li, the reigning short course world champion in 400m and 800m free, led all the way through the 400m final, lifting the world record 3:53.92 set by Ariarne Titmus of Australia in the 2018 Hangzhou worlds.


3. China unveils women's football reform and development plan

China has unveiled a comprehensive reform and development plan to revive its women's football, outlining project timelines until 2035.

The plan, running from 2022 to 2035, has set three-phase goals to be achieved by 2025, 2030 and 2035 respectively. And the bidding to host the 2031 Women's World Cup is one of the goals set up for the last phase.

The plan has targeted on seven areas, including a qualified management system, a greatly-improved national team, a youth training and competition system, further development of the sport on campus, a group of fully-cultivated coaches and a larger population of women footballers in the country.


4. Chinese divers dominate World Cup with 8 golds

The 2022 FINA Diving World Cup concluded in Berlin on Sunday as China added two more golds to finish with eight victories in nine events.

China didn't compete in the mixed team event, which was won by the United States on 375.80 points, followed by Germany (370.85) and Australia (365.65).
