FUPING, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Persimmon is a local specialty in Fuping County, northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
Fuping County has a history of planting persimmons for more than 2,000 years. As a rural signature industry, it has boosted local people's income and helped many impoverished households shake off poverty.
At present, the persimmon planting area in Fuping County reaches 360,000 mu (24,000 hectares), with an annual output of 140,000 kilograms of fresh persimmon, and the annual processing of dried persimmon exceeds 70,000 tons. The output value of the whole industrial chain reaches 6.5 billion yuan (about 896 million USD).
