EL TARF, Algeria, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- The deadly forest fires hit Algeria have claimed the lives of 37 people and injured 235 others, according to the country's civil protection authority.
Algerian firefighting department announced on Thursday that 221 fires were reported in 18 provinces in the northern part of the country known for its lush forests.
