A trend is seen in increased violence across the United States as a whole, reports Fox News.
NEW YORK, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- New Orleans in U.S. state of Louisiana had the highest per capita murder rate among U.S. cities in the first half of this year, Fox News recently cited police compiled data.
The city's murder rate stood at 36.8 per 100,000 residents as of June 30, in accordance with a compilation of police data from cities with populations greater than 200,000 by AH Analytics co-founder Jeff Asher.
New Orleans was followed by Baltimore at a rate of 29.1, Birmingham 28, St. Louis 27.8, Milwaukee 19, Cleveland 16.9, Rochester 16.6, Philadelphia 15.1, Atlanta 14.9, and Kansas City 14.6.
These numbers only reflect the murder numbers halfway through 2022 and are subject to change, said the report, noting that a trend is seen in increased violence across the country as a whole.
"In 2021, more than a dozen (U.S.) cities reported record homicide numbers, following a trend of violence that began in 2020," it added. ■
