"We have tried to put on display at the book fair new books published by publishing companies," an official with Afghanistan's Ministry of Information and Culture said.
KABUL, June 7 (Xinhua) -- A six-day book fair with support of Afghanistan's Ministry of Information and Culture is being held at Kabul University in the capital to boost book reading among people.

On display were thousands of pieces of books at the event, which opened on Sunday and will conclude on Friday, said Abdul Haleem Muftizada, an official with the ministry.
"We have tried to put on display at the book fair new books published by publishing companies," Muftizada told Xinhua.
Representatives from some 45 publishing houses and around 400 students visited the book fair on the first day of the event, the official added. ■
