XI'AN, May 23 (Xinhua) -- A water diversion project in NW China's Shaanxi takes biodiversity protection into consideration.
A 1,908m passageway is being built for migrating fish.
The passageway is designed to lower the speed of flowing water to help fish save energy when they swim through.
It also allocates places for fish to rest and breed.
Efforts are also made in artificial fish breeding.
Fish fry will be released into the river when they are big and healthy enough.
