YINCHUAN, May 17 (Xinhua) -- The 2022 International Trade Fair for Wines and Spirits (ProWein 2022) kicked off on May 15 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The fair saw the participation of 36 wineries from the Helan Mountain wine area in Ningxia, China's largest concentrated wine grape plantation area. The eastern foothills of Helan Mountain were awarded the Emerging Sustainable Wine Region prize during the opening ceremony, and ten wines were named Best Wine and Sustainable Wine respectively.
The east foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia are located between 37 and 39 degrees north latitude, considered to be within the "golden zone" for growing wine grapes. The area enjoys abundant sunshine and has little annual rainfall. There are varying temperatures all year round, and the air humidity is low. These make the local wines typically oriental, with a sweet, supple and balanced mouthfeel.
